NL Voor een particuliere opdrachtgever ontwierp ik samen met Tim Piët KHM26, een vakantiewoning aan het Pikmeer bij Grou. De uitgestrekte weilanden aan de ene kant en het Pikmeer aan de andere zorgen voor een weids uitzicht rondom. In het compacte en heldere ontwerp wordt dit weidse uitzicht optimaal benut. De woning laat zich kenmerken door grote glaspartijen rondom en een stoere kap van weervast staal. Een betonnen kern waarin alle dienende functies zijn ondergebracht steekt aan de landzijde iets uit en markeert zo de hoofdentree van de woning. Met haar natuurlijke en ruwe uitstraling voegt de vakantiewoning zich in de ruige schoonheid van de omgeving.

De unieke ligging aan de rand van het meer bracht met zich mee dat de kavel moeilijk bereikbaar was voor bouwwerkzaamheden. Daarom is ervoor gekozen de woning elders te bouwen. Een bijkomstig voordeel was dat hierdoor een hoogwaardige kwaliteit kon worden gewaarborgd. De 240 ton wegende woning werd op spectaculaire wijze door Mammoet verscheept naar haar uiteindelijke plek.

KHM26 is genomineerd voor de Nationale Staalprijs 2014 in de categorie Woningbouw.

EN On the boarders of the Frisian lake Pikmeer near Grou I designed in collaboration with Tim Piët, KHM26 (Roodkapje), a holiday home for a private client. With its vast meadows on one side and the openness of the lake on the other, the house is provided with a panoramic view all around. The compact and clear design enforces this grand view. The house is characterized by its large glass facades and a tough cover of weathering or Corten steel. A concrete core organizes the floor-plan on the inside and emphasizes the entrance on the outside. Due to its natural and raw appearance the holiday home settles in the rugged beauty of its surroundings.

One of the consequences of the unique location at the edge of the lake was that the building site was hard to reach for construction. Therefore it was decided to build the house elsewhere. This way it became possible to assure a high quality construction. Finally, the 240 tons weighing house was shipped to its last destination in a spectacular manner.

KHM26 has been nominated for the 2014 Dutch Steel Award.
